An accessible and authoritative introduction to the ancient Jewish mystical system that forms the foundation of the western esoteric tradition.

Kabbalah seeks to answer the key questions which preoccupy us all, concerning the meaning of life and the nature and purpose of existence as well as providing proven practical techniques for personal transformation.

Kabbalah has an unwarranted reputation for being archaic, complex and even deliberately obscure, but spiritual teacher and author Paul Roland considers it to be the obligation of a teacher to demonstrate that it is in essence, very simple and that its secrets should be available to everyone, regardless of their background or belief, especially in this age of anxiety and uncertainty.

Kabbalah promotes a positive philosophy in which every individual is significant and is empowered with the means of attaining self-realization or enlightenment. This workshop will introduce you to these methods and techniques which you can then practice on your own in the certainty that you are following the right path for you.

It has always been my approach to combine insight, personal experience and common sense in teaching esoteric principles and to take the sensationalism out of the supernatural and allay fear of the unknown, so that my students can feel confident to explore the inner and upper worlds. Both the original and traditional visualisation exercises that I use are safe and at the same time potentially very powerful, offering access to higher states of consciousness and giving insights into facets of the individual personality.

  1. What is Kabbalah? ‘As above, so below’ – Kabbalistic cosmology. Tracing the tradition through the Essenes, the Christian Cabbalists and the magical or occult offshoot Qabalah. Fate and Freewill.
  2. The Four Upper Worlds and how they correspond to our four inner worlds. Jacob’s Ladder – a virtual map of existence. Basic Visualisation: The Four Elements.
  3. Macrocosm and Microcosm – we are all manifestations of the divine. How understanding our True Nature reveals the universal laws that govern existence. The inhabitants of the four worlds. Demystifying ‘angels’ and ‘demons’. Visualisation; Attuning to the ‘angels’ of the spheres. The group mind and the group soul.
  4. The Tree of Life – the central symbol that provides a virtual map of both our psyche (the microcosm), every manifestation of the Divine in our world and in the Universe (the macrocosm). How the Divine principles manifest in all that we create. Exercise: Exploring the Tree within.
  5. Pathworking. How to explore the spheres and paths using visualisation. You will be required to draw your own diagram of the Tree for future reference and practise so bring large sheets of paper and coloured pencils or pens.
  6. Colours, correspondences and the chakras. How the principles of Kabbalah are interpreted by other esoteric traditions. One journey, many roads.
  7. Attributes and Archetypes – self-analysis visualisation using the sefirot (spheres) Self-empowerment. Revealing your life’s purpose. Tarot and the Tree of Life – a radical new interpretation.
  8. The Principle of Balance – The three pillars.
  9. The Living Planet – Visualisation. Healing Through Kabbalah. Resolving conflict. Letting go of resentment, regret etc Altering your perception.
  10. The Way of Kabbalah – Devotion, contemplation and action. How to practice Kabbalah and be ‘in the world but not of it’.
  11. Awakening the Divine. Contacting your Holy Guardian Angel or Higher Self. Advanced visualisation techniques.
  12. Working with the Kabbalah Cards – or making your own Oracle using the same principles.

To truly understand ourselves (the microcosmos), to find our True Path and obtain the guidance we seek, we need to understand that we are in essence Divine and that we alone determine the course of our life.

Excellent exercises which are clearly based on personal experience…Of equal importance is Roland’s grip on common sense and his strong insistence that it must not be discarded…This is the mark of a true Kabbalist, not that of a learned scholar or well-researched writer. Paul Roland writes nice melodies and has a very particular personality but he is too intellectual for me!” (Frank Zappa, 1988).

From Wikipedia we can learn:

Paul Roland (born 6 September 1959 in Kent, England), is a singer-songwriter, author, journalist and paranormal researcher.

Since the release of his first (shared) single Oscar Automobile in 1979 Roland has been spinning his tales against a backdrop of gothic rock, psychedelic pop, folk and, occasionally, baroque strings. His character creations include a Regency magistrate, various 19th Century murderers, a retired executioner, an opium addict, and an entire court of medieval grotesques.

Paul has been called ‘the male Kate Bush‘ by one-time label mate Robyn Hitchcock, and ‘The Lord Byron of Rock’ by influential French music magazine Les Inrockuptibles.

Paul Roland has remained a cherished figure on the gothic rock and psychedelic popperiphery for 30 years…a treasury of detail and eloquence…Roland’s impeccable narratives (and) formal, baroque instrumentation…creates the antiquated yet timeless ambience his songs deserve.” (Marco Rossi, Record Collector, May 2010).

As for Paul Roland, if anyone deserves credit for spearheading steampunk music, it is him. He was one of the inspirations I had in starting my project. He was writing songs about the first attempt at manned flight, and an Edwardian airship raid in the mid-80s long before almost anyone else….” (Joshua Pfeiffer of Vernian Process).
